Submitting Your Application: Choose Your Path
Select your location to see the specific application process for your region.
The application process for a Chinese visa is not global. It uses two completely different systems depending on which country you are currently living in. You must follow the guide that matches your current location.
Where are you applying from?
Please select your region below to be directed to the correct guide.
Option A: I am in the United States
(Also applies to North Korea)
- System Used: Direct Embassy/Consulate Model.
- Website:
cova.mfa.gov.cn - Location: You will visit the Chinese Consulate General assigned to your state.
- Fees: Visa Fee only.
Go to the USA Application Guide →
Option B: I am in the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, or Asia
(Applies to UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.)
- System Used: CVASC (Chinese Visa Application Service Center).
- Website:
visaforchina.cn - Location: You will visit a commercial "Visa Center" office (NOT the Embassy).
- Fees: Visa Fee + Service Center Fee.
Go to the CVASC Application Guide →
Which one should I choose?
The "Visa Center" Rule: If you are in a country that has a "Chinese Visa Application Service Center" (CVASC), you must use it. You cannot go to the Embassy directly. Most developed nations and major Asian hubs use this system.
The "Direct" Rule: If your country does not have a CVASC (like the United States), you must apply directly at the Chinese Diplomatic Mission (Embassy or Consulate).
💡 APPLY WHERE YOU LIVE
You must apply in the country where you currently hold legal residence.
- Example: If you are a Brazilian citizen studying in London, you should apply in London (using the UK system), not fly back to Brazil. You will just need to show your UK student visa as proof of residence.
